IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL TIME! WHY NOT MAKE LEARNING FUN WITH YOUR KIDS AND SPEND GREAT QUALITY TIME WITH THEM TOO.....
Wow, moms and dads the summer has flown by and it's time to send your little chick-a-dees back to school! Here come Autumn nights, leaves changing color and jacket wearing weather. At our house we're back to our school days routine which of course includes: dinner, homework and early bedtimes.
We think we've come up with a fun activity to help your little ones get back into their math routine. Have you ever tried making math fun? Why not try a candy sorting activity, a guessing game, OR practicing multiplication facts by grouping candies and adding them together?
Here are a couple of ways to practice math with your kids whether they are just starting out or need help with their multiplication problems:
*Counting: Count by 2's, 5's or 10's. Count to 100. Line up some SKITTLES or maybe even some GUMI BEARS so they can visualize what that number looks like.
*Sorting activity: Try sorting by colors and counting each group. Sort by size or color. You could then add the groups together to practice multiplying.
*Graphing: Take sorting to the next level by recording your findings on some graph paper. Make your own graph paper or use some purchased paper from the store. You could also make a pie graph to record your results.
*Guessing and Predicting: How many skittles are in this bag? The closest guess wins! It could go on all week and you can make it a family contest.
The whole family can get involved to make Math fun! The possibilities are endless!
